Common commercial grade carpet cleaners for stainsNovember 1, 2015
In a busy office or commercial business premises, floor surfaces, and in particular carpet, will suffer a great deal of wear and tear over a relatively short amount of time. One of the best ways to keep your commercial carpet in tip top condition and looking great is to have a list of solutions for common carpet mishaps. By attending to a spill quickly and efficiently, you will lessen the chances of a spill becoming a nasty stain.
One of the most common spills to clean up in an office environment is, of course, coffee! It’s not just on the TV that we see an office worker with a cup of coffee in hand; it really is true! Take a look around any office today, or at the line of people at your local coffee shop and it’s easy to see why coffee spills are commonplace.
With a coffee spill, the first thing to do is to blot the spill with a clean and dry cloth. Don’t rub at the spill, just press down firmly with your hand to try to soak up as much of the liquid as you can. Next is to make a weak solution of lukewarm water with dishwashing detergent. Blot the stain with a cloth that has been wet with the solution. Now it’s time to use the dry cloth, again to blot any moisture away.
You may need to repeat the process a few times if you can still see the coffee spill. And if you still can’t shift it, remember the best thing to do is to call your Geelong commercial grade carpet cleaners who can do the job for you.
Another common office stain is caused by chewing gum. Gum can be very difficult to remove, particularly if it is not done promptly. While calling Geelong commercial grade carpet cleaners is the best option, a do-it-yourself option is to fill a small plastic zip-lock bag with ice. Sit the bag, ensuring there are no leaks, over the gum until the gum is frozen. Once frozen, try to scrape off as much of the gum as you can with a blunt knife.
Once you’ve removed as much gum as you can, use the detergent and lukewarm water solution from above to blot the stain. As with the coffee spill, use a dry cloth to blot away the moisture and repeat the steps if you can still see gum or any stain.
